"To beat Dracula, I'll need all the help I can get."

Biography for Vanlyth Belmont, the Vampire Hunter.

Personality

Outside of combat, Vanlyth is initially somewhat on edge, when entering a new time period. Once adjusting to his surroundings, as well as possibly hunting down the Belmont of the time, he’s far more relaxed. He has to choose his words carefully though, as while he is in an alternate timeline to his own, the differences are so minute that it’s basically his own, meaning that if he tells someone the wrong thing, or tells them anything about their future, it could have huge ramifications. So, as relaxed as he can be.

Abilities

As far as regular weaponry goes, Vanlyth has access to a whip blessed with holy water, in order to still be effective versus the monsters that the forces of darkness command. He also has part of the shattered remains of the Vampire Killer, broken during the confrontation with Dracula in his time period that began his adventure. The pieces of the Vampire Killer are all scattered through time, but once whole, it boasts unrivaled power, even after the hundreds of years between revivals of Dracula. Its main source of holy magic is a core, charged with digitized holy energy, to be placed in the handle of the whip, bringing it to life. It can still be used in an unpowered state, but will be weaker, though still coated in holy energy.

While having minimal training, Vanlyth is still able to fight. Basic training in both melee and ranged weaponry apply, covering everything from a simple sword, to more obscure and advanced physical weapons, to all kinds of ranged weaponry, and any known sub-weapons from any time period. He also has access to magic via his neural implant, set up in the early part of his life. Known as the Enemy Ability Realizing Network, or EARN for short, it reads the data of enemies as they’re being fought, and if enough data is gathered, allows Vanlyth to replicate a move of theirs using his storage of digitized magic, or in some cases, summoning the monster itself for a particular attack. If too much magic is used within a short timeframe, much like other spell-casting Belmonts, time will be needed to recharge his magical energy, which can be reduced by potions and the like.

Alongside his neural implant, Vanlyth has a heads up display built into his retinas, giving him direct access to the information stored in his neural implant. Things such as history, geographical data, and anything else that could be needed at any given point are recorded and stored, as well as backed up to a cloud based mainframe in his own time period (one that cannot be accessed in the past, sadly). It also allows him to monitor his own health, his overall status of life and magical energy remaining placed into two bars, along with his current strength categorized by “levels”. Reducing the information to a video game like status makes it easier for him to track, hence the terminology.

If around an external target long enough, he can scan them to find out more information about them, categorized in the same way his own data is. and in the case of powerful spellcasters or other Belmonts, can even see what abilities they have on hand, though he cannot learn most magic directly from said people. In the case of magic, it must be learned from scanning the enemy whose skill it originates from. It cannot be learned from someone who gained a monster’s ability, for example, but from the monster itself. Spells that originate from a particular person, however, can be learned from either said person, or one who has been taught by them, like a witch. Basically, monster magic has to come from the monster, while other magic can come from whoever is willing to teach Vanlyth it.

Backstory

It had been several centuries since the permanent defeat of Dracula by Julius Belmont, and the former’s reborn self having faded into history. The Belmont Clan continued to be, however, due to their main threat having been eliminated, their training of their namesakes lessened. The belief that another large threat would never really rise, now that Dracula had finally been defeated. Unfortunately for them, they were wrong. In 2260, a threat arose not only from an unlikely place, but one almost never experienced before. In the middle of Thorchal, the megacity that Vanlyth called home, Dracula returned, stronger than he’d ever been seen before.

The Belmont Clan had to spring into action in order to contain the threat, saving as many lives as possible and minimizing the damage that had been dealt. However, little can be done against the ridiculous strength that Dracula had amassed, causing Vanlyth to have to spring into action. With not a lot of training, but the Vampire Killer on hand, upgraded through the generations, as well as a neural learning network designed to harness the skills of his opponents (Enemy Ability Realising Network, EARN for sure) he set out to defeat the re-emergence of his lineage’s arch-nemesis. Initially confronting him at the site of his appearance, Vanlyth is quickly beaten, and is forced to retreat, all while learning that the Dracula that appeared before him was not the one that Julius Belmont defeated in 1999.. Figuring out a plan, however, he decided to do something incredibly risky: Travel back in time, and enlist the help of his ancestors to defeat this new Dracula.

Using an experimental technology to head back in time, based off the Infinite Corridor itself, Vanlyth made his escape. Unfortunately, he was followed inside by Dracula, and barely managed to trap him in his time. It didn’t come without consequence though, as the Vampire Killer was shattered, and its parts were scattered through time. His goal was simple in theory, but in practice, would take not only a lot of travel, but a lot of convincing. If he could get stronger to defeat Dracula, alongside those that came before him… Maybe he could save his time. Only one way to find out, right? Armed with EARN, a blessed whip he kept as a backup, and whatever spells he could manage to learn along the way, he set out through time to save his own.
